Frequently Asked Questions

Electrical Considerations

Adequate power must be available to the location of the lift. Typically, the customer must provide the providing adequate power to within ten (10) feet of the lift.

A fused disconnect typically is required and is not typically provided as standard equipment by the VRC manufacturer.

Application specific conditions and hazards determine the electrical classification or NEMA rating of the area (such as NEMA 1, NEMA 4 for wash down, NEMA 7 or 9 for hazardous environments, etc.)

Wiring Considerations
Many parts of the VRC may be prewired by the manufacturer, but there is usually considerable field wiring required. A few manufacturers may offer “complete” prewiring options.

All wiring must be accordance with The National Electric Code and/or any applicable local code requirements.
