GENERAL OVERVIEW Dual Mast Vertical Lifts are used to move material between two or more levels in a low overhead environment that requires heavy or bulky loads. Dual Mast VRCs utilize a reliable and continuous duty all-mechanical drive system which provides simple installation, increased longevity and efficiency. This lift has been used in hundreds of warehouses, distribution centers, automotive dealerships, cold storage facilities, military installations and more. The uses and applications are endless.
SPECIFICATIONS Dual Mast VRCs are available with lifting capacities up to 15,000 lbs; carriage sizes as required up to 15 x 15; vertical travel from 2 to 100; standard operating speeds of 20-25 fpm; optional speed changes.
FABRICATION Each vertical guide mast is constructed from 4 structural steel square tubes. The carriage is comprised of 4 or 6 steel tubes forming the platform topped with diamond plate steel.
DIGITAL CONTROLS Standard power requirements are 230 volt, 3-phase, 60 hertz; options for other voltages are available. Pushbutton stations, limit switches, and interlocks are operated on a control voltage of 24 VDC. CIPs exclusive Intelitroll 2600 Digital Control Panel housed in a NEMA 12 enclosure provides self-diagnostic features to improve reliability, decrease costly downtimes, ease troubleshooting and installation.
OPERATIONAL CONCEPTS The carriage is raised and lowered by four chains attached to two 100% duty-cycle electric brake motors coupled with two Cyclo-Drive reducers that boasts a 500% shock load rating. Special switches and brakes monitor the chain situation.
SAFETY DEVICES AND FEATURES Upward and downward travel is constrained by limit switches placed at each level for precise leveling. Slack chain switches provide monitoring of the chains and disable power in the event of a chain failure. Carriage mounted brakes prevent the carriage from uncontrolled descent in the unlikely event a chain were ever to fail. An electromechanical brake mounted on each motor is disengaged when power is applied to allow carriage movement. If a power failure should occur or a switch is tripped, power to the brakes will be removed which would automatically activate the brakes. The Soft-Start/Soft-Stop feature provides gradual acceleration and deceleration which protects the load, the unit and increase the lifts longevity. This feature is standard on units over 4,000 lbs capacity and available as an option on others.
CARRIAGE STRUCTURE The Dual Mast VRC is equipped with side rails on all non-operating sides and safety chains on all operating sides. Dual Mast VRCs are capable of loading from the same side or from opposite sides at each level. These configurations are referred to as a C or Z Load Pattern.
SECURITY ENCLOSURES AND GATES ANSI/AMSE B20.1 Safety Standard for Conveyors require gates and enclosures on all accessible sides of the lifts. This code requires enclosures to be a minimum of 8 high and capable of rejecting a 2 diameter ball. CIP manufactures optional gates and enclosures from from 1-1/2 square tubes and covered with 1/2 expanded metal which will reject a 1/2 ball. Gates are electromechanically interlocked to prevent access to the lift and carriage when the carriage is at a different elevation. The interlocks also prevent carriage movement when a gate is open. In order to conform to the ANSI/ASME B20.1 code, guarding must be provided.
